Ashburton Art Gallery
The Ashburton Art Gallery is operated by Ashburton Art Gallery Inc, an incorporated society with financial members and an elected committee. The Gallery is managed full-time by a manager/curator and two trained part-time workers as well as a team of trained volunteers, who staff the gallery on weekends in particular.
Ashburton Art Gallery Inc is charged with the responsibility of making the visual arts accessible to the people of the Ashburton District and to those visiting the community. They have recently adopted a collection policy with a view to building a collection of significance to the district and wider community.
The Gallery presents an exciting and innovative programme of exhibitions by local and national artists, as well as arranging a stimulating annual programme of touring exhibitions. Wherever possible the Gallery supplements its visual arts programme by presenting artist's talks, education, demonstrations, lectures, music and performing arts events.
