Since our reorganisation last December, full executive meetings have consisted mainly of reports, decisions arising from their recommendations, and agreement that they carry on with their respective jobs. The Arts Guide This has now been on the market for close on two years, and more than half the copies have been sold. Good progress is being made by the Media development committee in gathering information for the format and production of future arts guides that will better serve the interests of Arts Canterbury members. It has been decided that remaining copies should be offered at a cash discount of $15 plus postage of $5. A wholesale price of $10 is for quantities of ten copies or more. Arts Canterbury members have first option to this offer. Please help in our effort to sell all remaining copies by mid-2010, by when preparation for the 2nd, e-edition will be completed and the material is on-line. Media Development This committee, convened by Wilson Henderson, is moving increasingly towards a revamped website. The possibilities are exciting, though often technically complex. Within the next month or so, you can expect to see the first of the changes underway. So, keep watching the Arts Canterbury website at www.artscanterbury.org.nz Arts Canterbury art exhibitions This, a series of Arts Canterbury exhibitions being planned for late 2010 and early 2011, is moving ahead with great enthusiasm and energy. Galleries have been contacted, and the committee, convened by Marie Rusbatch-Dawson has submitted its first exhibition proposal. A Canterbury arts forum Convened by Dan Gordon, this committee has made a number of firm recommendations that were agreed on by the executive at its September 11 meeting. The first and most important is that Arts Canterbury members will be invited. (But please see “Your membership” below.) The Selwyn District Council has kindly offered us the use of the Recreation Centre at Rolleston on a Saturday, yet to be finalised, in May 2010. Among those to be invited to join with Canterbury artists and other members of Arts Canterbury are: · Representatives of Community Arts Councils in the Canterbury region · Representatives from the local authorities of the Canterbury region · Representatives of Creative NZ The provisional name for the event is: Arts Canterbury - Forum 2010 Some interesting topics are being considered. If you have any issues that you think would be of particular interest to the artists of Canterbury, please let us know. Write to, email or phone any of the executive with your ideas.
