Anne Field

I enjoy weaving both functional articles which are well designed, and more three dimensional and mixed media works. I concentrate on fabric that cannot be woven on industrial looms, as hand weaving cannot compete in this area. This direction has recently inspired me to weave pleated and puckered cloth, multi-layered fabrics and textiles which, after the application of chemical burnout materials, achieve contrasting transparent/dense areas in the cloth.

Anne is currently the Exhibition Convenor for the Professional Weavers Network.

Education

BA (Hons) (Education and Art History); 1997.
Certificate of Continuing Education at Canterbury University; 1985.

Anne has taught spinning and weaving for 30 years, both in New Zealand and overseas.
