Catherine Coster was deeply influenced by her upbringing on 4500 acres of pristine wilderness in the Australian bush. This connection to the natural world profoundly shapes her art, evoking the freedom and emotion inspired by untamed landscapes. Her work reflects a concern for humanity’s disconnection from nature, often using landscape elements and allegorical iconography to address this issue and emphasise the importance of preserving wild places.
Coster draws inspiration from artists like William Turner, Anselm Kiefer, and Euan Macleod, who explore the spiritual quest and our place in the cosmos through landscape.
Her work has been featured in both group and solo exhibitions and has appeared in Art/Edit and The World of Interiors. Notable exhibitions include The Other Art Fair in Sydney, Australia.
