About
Catherine’s art practice is based on everyday activities such as walking, photographing, sometimes drawing. She pays particular attention to the natural world – the river, stones, trees, life of the pathways she takes. These inspire her work, along with reading and discussion with other artists. In her studio she responds to these discoveries, experimenting in simple ways with pencil and watercolour and occasionally with audio and visual media. She has developed a meditative approach, and tries not to overthink the process. The act of making is what is important to her.
Studied Fine Arts at Massey University, completing an MFA in 2009. Since then, she has exhibited work in solo and group shows. She is a pianist and singer with a background in music teaching.
