About
Elaine is a self-taught local artist with a lifelong passion for all things creative. Painting for over 20 years and working mainly in acrylic, her inspiration comes from how light plays on, and bounces off whatever it touches. Subject matter varies constantly from animal and birdlife to glassware and polished chrome. The skill and technique required to successfully portray on canvas light interacting with a form is a constant challenge, and with both natural history and reflective objects, it is that light that brings magic to the finished work.
By day Elaine works as a full-time artist for a monumental company. But her spare time is spent in her home studio working at the easel. She happily accepts commissioned work when not painting for pleasure. Her work has found a home across New Zealand, also Australia, the USA, the UK and Hong Kong.
