Hi I’m Emma of Emma G Potteree, based in Oxford, North Canterbury. After 14 years as a local business Owner/Operator I started to pursue the art of Hand Built Pottery – not a wheel in sight.
My work is very organic and in the most part, sculptural. I am hugely inspired by texture – be it via textiles or nature (sticks, leaves, feathers etc…). No two pieces are the same – even if I try! and that’s what I love about this craft. It’s all so very unique.
For the last year I have been attending weekly classes with Frank Hakkaart from The Artist’s Inn in Hororata and he’s been an amazing mentor and encourager. I’m really excited to see where this pottery journey continues to take me, especially now as a member of Arts Canterbury.
