Simon van der Sluijs is a multidisciplinary artist, puppet maker and puppeteer who works across a wide variety of disciplines and mediums. His work is figurative and narrative and can be seen on his website.
Simon used to own Allegory Art Gallery in Lichfield Street where he exhibited work by emerging and established artists as well as his own work.
He was co-founder, creator and performer of ‘Tablo, The Notional Theatre Company of New Zealand’(2009-2015). Tablo made their mark with street and staged puppet theatre for adult audiences.
Simon collaborates frequently with choreographer Fleur de Thier. They have created memorable theatre shows like ‘Mantra’ and ‘Requiem’ which left a lasting impression with sold out houses.
Simon is represented by Little River Gallery and The Artists Room in Dunedin.
