21 January – 2 February 2019
Group Exhibition curated by Christchurch artist Nicky Taylor.
It is a tribute to the 1977-78 feminist exhibition ‘A Season’s Diaries’ (https://medium.com/spiral-collectives/diary-of-a-season-a-proposal-for-a-womens-exhibition-fab0d373a3a0). A number of the original works were re-exhibited in Auckland earlier in 2018.
Diverse Women III includes some of the original ‘Season’s Diaries’ that were displayed at Mokopopaki in Auckland in 2018, and it acknowledges the creativity and struggles the early feminist artists went through to have their work accepted in the world of art.
The exhibition features the combined efforts of a number of women from differing backgrounds – students, mothers, grandmothers and businesswomen. Each artist is contributing four works which represent a day or a moment in their life.
