Tsunagu-Legacy | Down By the Liffey Gallery

Introducing our NZ/Japanese mixed culture themed exhibition. 3 artists are Japanese born, married to kiwis and have mixed ethnicity children. This exhibition was started from Sayoko’s thought that recoding part of her story and culture would help her children as they grew up and started to search for their own roots. So she reached out to Asako and Masako who each have the same experience and have helped the exhibition come to life.
The artists believe one of the keys to live happily together in multicultural society nowadays is knowing each other. Each artist brings different styles and approaches to the theme and hope this exhibition will demonstrate how different cultures can blend together and coexist, and that the exhibition will show hope and encouragement to anyone struggling with adjusting to new environments and through that both New Zealanders and immigrants can see the beauty of multiculturalism.
